BackTalk: Dutch business culture

Nov 12, 2025

Moving to a new country can be both exciting and challenging. Many of our ventures face not only the practical difficulties of relocation, but also the challenge of understanding Dutch business culture. To help them navigate this journey, we invited two experts to share their insights on these topics during our BackTalk yesterday.

🌷 Relocating to and living in the Netherlands

From ‘huisarts’ etiquette to inviting over your new neighbours, Deborah Valentine, Executive Director of ACCESS Netherlands, shared a handful of tips and tricks to help your move to the Netherlands go smoothly. That’s exactly the mission of this local non-profit, run by volunteers who moved here themselves and want to help others navigate this (sometimes tricky) journey.

🚲 The hidden rules of doing business in the Netherlands

Aleksandra Titova, founder and CEO of ATNA Marketing Agency and member of VentureNetwork – our business expert network – explained the specifics of Dutch business culture. According to her, it’s like riding a bike: easy to start, until the wind hits you sideways. Do you recognize this? To help prevent this, Aleksandra shared several interesting and useful insights on how to stay on your bike in the Dutch business world.

Thank you to both Deborah and Aleksandra for sharing your expertise with our ventures, Backs and VentureNetwork members! And a big thank-you as well to everyone who joined us for our final BackTalk of the year.
