Post-Platforms, one of our alumni ventures, is on a mission to ‘fix’ what’s broken in today’s internet. Think: platform monopolies, countless logins, scattered messages across incompatible apps, fragmented personal data, privacy leaks… you name it.
Ambitious goal
Post-Platforms joined our Next Valley program about two years ago. With the support of Back Menno Stijl, the team set out with an ambitious goal: to solve the problems we all face every single day online. ‘All of these issues stem from a single root cause: platforms owning our data,’ explains founder Egor Yakovlev.
Their proposed solution?
Separate data from platforms. Imagine having your own sovereign digital identity on the web – a universal internet presence with your eName, ePassport, and eVault. Instead of uploading your data to dozens of platforms, you store it securely in your personal vault. And allow platforms to access it only with your explicit permission.
The venture has already secured funding from multiple sources, enabling the team to launch a working prototype this month: Web 3.0 Data Space (W3DS)!
Curious how it works? You can now install the ‘eID for W3DS’ app via the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, and create your own digital self today!
