SilverLinks: connecting seniors and newcomers

Oct 16, 2026

SilverLinks, one of the ventures in our Next Valley Program, just launched its platform connecting seniors and newcomers across the Netherlands.

The idea is simple, yet highly relevant: loneliness among seniors is a growing public health concern across the Netherlands, while newcomers often face challenges when it comes to social integration. SilverLinks creates measurable social impact by addressing both challenges at the same time.

‘I think the matchmaking platform is a fantastic initiative’, says their Back, Edwin van der Heide. ‘It brings together seniors and newcomers, based on their interests, knowledge, availability and location. Both of whom have so much to share – from language, culture, stories, skills, experiences, and perspectives. Through conversations, shared activities, language practice, and simply spending meaningful time together, both groups have the opportunity to learn from one another.’

‘Its founders are passionate and entrepreneurial. They’ve already organised several pilot meetings, among other activities. They also have a real talent for bringing people together and have secured the support of various organizations and individuals for their initiative.’
Now it’s time to grow the community, build partnerships and make an even bigger impact.
