With over 50 interconnected sectors, one can say that the agricultural environment is a complex one. Streamlined communication is almost impossible with so many parties involved. Not according to Yasemin Karamaya (23), founder of Turkish scale-up DoiDNA AGRO. ‘We’re developing an AI-based digital hub to optimize the agricultural environment; one single platform that streamlines all agricultural operations. Communication and transparency are now lacking, which results in issues such as inconsistent production, price fluctuations, unsustainable farming practices, etc. By digitizing the links between these sectors, we can help optimize this ecosystem.’
Experience the support of Backs
Since the early stage of her venture, Yasemin has been supported by two Backs, Olivier Lindeman and Susan Bienfait. ‘The scale-up environment can be very chaotic and it’s a journey with ups and downs. To have two passionate Backs supporting me is great. The Backs guide me with their opinions and expertise and it’s been valuable to just have people there who will help you.’
Yasemin recently struggled with the issue that many ventures encounter: ‘Investors want to see a product, but developers need money to build that. I asked Olivier and Susan what their thoughts were on this and they had a really good suggestion, namely creating a demo video using animation. A smart solution if you ask me.’
Inspiring young & female entrepreneur
What made Yasemin decide to become an entrepreneur at such a young age? Before starting DoiDNA AGRO, she worked at a creative agency startup. ‘I think everyone who wants to become an entrepreneur should begin in a startup. It’s a valuable learning environment and amazing to see how a startup is built. But it also made me realize that it was time to make my own dreams come true. That combined with wanting to have a great impact in the world made me decide that there is no better time to start than now. So why wait?’
