Clear eyesight: certainly not something to take for granted, considering 80% of all impressions are recognized through our eyes. Nonetheless, there is a gap between diagnosis and treatment of eye abnormalities, according to Ali Yousefi, founder of T1Solution. Ali worked as a biomedical engineer in an eye hospital for over eight years and became aware of how important correct diagnosis and treatment are. Any mistake in the treatment process can result in irreparable consequences for a patient, from vision loss to even blindness.

AI EyeClinic

After becoming aware of this gap, Ali decided to team up with two skilled colleagues to develop a smart ophthalmology assistant, called ‘EyeClinic’. ‘By using AI technology the software installed in medical equipment ensures the highest accuracy and efficiency of diagnosis and treatment which is confirmed by clinical data’, Ali says. EyeClinic can be used by ophthalmologists as well as optometrists and opticians.

Enabling clearer vision with two Backs

Earlier this year, Ali and his team moved from Iran to the Netherlands because of the good environment for scale-ups, and, in particular, because of the many universities that focus on engineering and medicine. The team joined the Next Valley program with Albert Groenewoud and Egbert Ottevanger as their supporting Backs. Ali: ‘We’re extremely pleased to work with them because they are very experienced and knowledgeable in this field. I believe entrepreneurship is related to navigating a shadowy path. Thus, the presence of coaches like Egbert and Albert is crucial. Their insights illuminate the journey, enabling clearer vision and wiser choices.’
